DGS Opens Season @ York

Wednesday, February 8 2012 - York vs Downers Grove South

DGS started it's official indoor season with an unscored dual meet at York.

Leading the way for DGS was Nick Kirk who ran an IL#1 time of 9:46 in the 3200.  Other quality performances were turned in by many Mustangs.

Jack Freko doubled running a 2:08.9 leg on the 4 x 800 and ran away with the Sophomore 1600 in 4:53.  Sam Oury ran a 2:04, which he followed up with a 1:29 600 and 53.7 4 x 4 split.

Ryan Kelch, Brian Rotunno, and David Fish all ran 3200 PRs.  Taylor Enke and Steven Rotunno performed well in their respective 3200 debuts.

Liam Heneghan, Eric Zidarich, Danny Annese, Michael Kelch, and Sushil Patel all ran their personal bests in the 800, as well as, Jon Sleeper on his leg of the 4 x 8.

In the 1600, the team had plenty of personal best performances.  Tom Yurek ran a solid 5:01 as he inched closer to the 5 minute barrier.  Ryan and Drew Heneghan ran PRs, as did Alex Hartig, Kelch, Jason Shaughnessy, Jacob Vurpillat, Patel, Connor Corradi, TJ O'Keefe, and Jacob Friedrich.

The DGS 4 x 4 team ran a respectable 3:40, considering their third leg, Kevin Jones took a nasty spill which added probably 5 seconds to his time.  Jon Aldrin, Sam Oury, and Erich Eisenhart all split in the 53s.

The next meet for the Mustangs is Friday at Hinsdale Central.
