PR Thursday at Proviso West Quad Meet

Saturday, March 2 2013 - Downers Grove South vs Proviso West

In a meet that was hyped throughout the week as "PR THURSDAY", the Mustang distance runners did not disappoint.

With no 4 x 8, the night started off with the 3200.  Amazingly, DGS accrued 6 PRs in that race... out of 4 runners.  Chris Mendez ran his best race of the year to finish with a time of 10:20 in the Varsity race.  At the F/S level, Jack LaLonde led the way with a personal best of 10:46, followed by Ethan Kirk in 10:49.  Jacob Friedrich also put forth a PR with his 11:16.  LaLonde, enroute to his 3200 PR, actually ran lifetime bests in both the 800 and 1600!

In the varsity 800, Jacob Amiri won a tightly contested race with Fremd's Nick Vucovich winning in an indoor best of 2:00.67.  Vucovich was given the same finishing time as the victory was decided by the officials at the finish.  Ross Netzel, in his second ever 800, ran a PR of 2:10.9.

In the F/S 800, DGS had 10 runners toe the starting line... in the end, 9 of them ran lifetime bests with only one guy falling less than a second shy of his lifetime best (which was actually a split).  Winning the race was Ryan Strelau in 2:18.7, followed closely by teammates Josh Realubit (2:19), Will Heatherington (2:19), and Austin Rutkowski (2:24).  Other personal bests were turned in by Trevor Smith, Alex Parker, Dylan Bowman, Kyle Hall, and Jack Laraia.

In the 1600, PJ White ran a lifetime best of 4:51 to place 3rd at the varsity level.

In the F/S race, freshmen Max O'Meara and Peter Fish went 1-2 with PRs of 4:56 and 4:57.  Also running well for DGS were Josh Realubit, Austin Rutkowski, Matt Wiechec, and Jack LaLonde.

DGS next competes at Hinsdale South on Friday.
