Great Start to 2013 CC

Wednesday, August 14 2013

The season officially began this morning in similar fashion to years past.  We had 30 athletes complete a 3000 meter time trial to get a baseline of their fitness level.  High expectations were met as many showed signs of dramatic improvement from last fall.

David Fish came out on top with a blazing time of 9:18.  This was 12 seconds faster than the best ever time recorded in this trial (Bobby Castillo in 2009).  Sophomore Jack LaLonde was second in 9:32, which is the 3rd best time by a Mustang in 7 years.  Another Sophomore and newcomer to CC, Joey Eterno was 3rd in 9:51 which puts him 9th all-time.  It must be added that last fall, LaLonde ran 12:27, dropping almost 3 minutes in a year!

Other solid performances were turned in by Ethan Kirk who dropped 55 seconds from last year, Alan Zhou who dropped 33, Zach Scheffel who dropped a full minute, Tim Arnold who dropped 59 seconds, Grant Johnson who dropped 64 seconds, Trevor Smith who dropped 1:50, and Kyle Hall who dropped 59 seconds.  Also, great job by our 11 freshmen who all completed the distance without stopping.
