Alumni Weekend Recap 1/25

Sunday, January 25 2015

As the official start to the track season is just getting underway for DGS, many of our alumni have been at it for weeks.  This weekend saw a number of impressive showings from a group of former Mustangs who have continued their respective track careers at a number of colleges and universities.

Running for Carthage College, PJ White ran 9:48 in the 3k at North Central this weekend.  Jalen Lewis competed at Eastern Illinois for ISU along contesting the 60m hurdles, while former teammate DeMaine Bailey ran both the 60m and 200m dashes in 7.36 and 24.12 respectively.  Bailey runs for Western Illinois University.

Scott Mitchell is adapting well to the heavier weight of the college shot put, tossing an impressive 42-08 for 3rd at IWU Triangular Meet.  While Mitchell throws for IWU, Freshman Jacob Amiri was also competing at IWU but running for the University of Chicago.  Coming off a stress fracture in the fall, Amiri posted a solid 1:59.04 800 time, which was good enough for 4th place.

Last but not least, former DGS All-Stater Odell McFarland, competing for Grand Valley State, posted a very fast 22.74 200 to place 7th competing at Indiana University over the weekend.

Congrats to all the alumni that continue to compete... I plan to post frequent alumni updates.  If there is anyone I missed, please let me know so that I can include them in future posts.
